What happened
Tropfest 2027 materials allow AI as a supporting tool, for example for research, transcription, editing, colour grading, or sound cleanup. Films that substantially rely on generative AI for the screenplay, performance, characters, imagery, or another core storytelling element are not eligible.
How it works
Entrants must also disclose how AI tools were used. The festival says there is no AI-only category at present; its priority is original human authorship and storytelling.
